Artist Showcase: Pro Skier Todd Ligare

Skiing spines while filming for Tanner Hall’s movie Ring The Alarm. This was my first trip to Haines and there’s a reason it’s a skiing mecca. There’s a higher concentration of the twisted Dr. Seuss terrain here than anywhere else I’ve ever seen. Crazy weird lines as far as the eye can see. –Todd Ligare. Photo: Will Wissman

I saw this feature from above and it immediately caught my eye. We had already skied a couple of runs in the morning and I knew the snow was fantastic, so it gave me confidence to just roll into the first hit blind. Interior BC is a playground. –Todd Ligare. Photo: Jeff Engerbretson

This shot reminds me of the best days in Little Cottonwood Canyon — snow overnight and continuing throughout the day. On occasion the conditions just get better and the crowds thin and you get to have some of that legendary Utah duff for many afternoon laps. –Todd Ligare. Photo: Christopher Whitaker

This shot was also on the trip for Tanner’s movie Ring The Alarm. I think I like the frame because it shows that moment of commitment where you know the close out is up ahead and the slough is coming at you from behind… time to pin it. This shot was used in an Armada ad that ran in Powder magazine. –Todd Ligare. Photo: Will Wissman

There is a particular quality to the snow in BC that makes it slightly different than other places — still light and cold but somehow sticky enough to fill in the gaps. Small trees become airs, cliffs can become lines. Keefer Lake Lodge is a fairly new cat operation up there and we were lucky to sample some of the terrain. –Todd Ligare. Photo: Jeff Engerbretson
