Artist Showcase: Painter + Muralist Pedro Barrios

Collaboration with Jaime [Molina]. The concept for this piece came about thinking of the neighborhood which it resides in. The RiNo neighborhood [in Denver] is changing at an overwhelming and sometimes alarming pace. We wanted to try and capture that in the piece by having the character jumping. The narrative is that whenever he lands his surroundings will be completely different. —Pedro Barrios

This is my first series in quite a while. This body of work was inspired by a recent trip to New Mexico and the gorgeous palettes of the area. Many of my works revolve around the theme of repetition and the patterns they create. —Pedro Barrios

Collaboration with Jaime [Molina]. This piece was commissioned by a Mexican restaurant in the Vail area. The imagery was intended to be a celebration on what their establishment is trying to create. —Pedro Barrios

Collaboration with Jaime [Molina]. This piece was commissioned for a chicken restaurant named Birdcall. We wanted to incorporate imagery that would fit with the establishment, and so the funky chickens came about. —Pedro Barrios

Collaboration with Jaime [Molina]. For this particular piece we wanted to explore breaking the traditional mural canvas and have the piece explode onto the ceiling. —Pedro Barrios

Collaboration with Jaime [Molina]. This piece was created for the Crush mural festival in RiNo. Once again we tried to represent the neighborhood in the work. The cactus character is meant to portray the neighborhood’s prickly qualities while celebrating its resilient and vibrant nature. —Pedro Barrios

Collaboration with Jaime [Molina]. This piece was inspired by the architecture and the location. When viewing the area the ground sloped in a manner that we thought could translate to a nice place for the character to rest and, it being on the back of the building in a secluded area, we thought that the imagery would fit in perfectly. The palette came about from the outstanding sunsets that Jaime had viewed at this particular location in the past. —Pedro Barrios
