Artist Showcase: Painter Josh Scheuerman

Josh Scheuerman - Tolerance
Indigenous people all over the world are being dishonored by oppressive people. The Constitution of the United States was written with quill feathers and the reverse ink signifies the neglect to honor signed treaties or documents and the lack of tolerance towards people who have already tolerated so much. –Josh Scheuerman
Josh Scheuerman - Greek
Greek Altar Mural, acrylic/aerosol. 1075 S. 200 W. Approx. 20’ x 8’. At C9 Flats, I created four different murals featuring Greek sculptures. This mural was my first using both acrylic and aerosol paint to create an ‘electric’ redesign which broke up the modern design by using classic renaissance art. It’s located in a common room of the apartment building, creates flow and function. Video –Josh Scheuerman
Josh Scheuerman - Spain
In 2012, I lived in San Carlos de la Rapita, Spain, for a summer and decided to paint a mural for the city I love. It took a month with a lot of breaks and travels in between the start and completion. In 2016, I traveled back for 12 days and, for a total of 5 days and 1 full night and re-painted the same mural adding additional color and using a roller, 2 1/2″ brush and patience. –Josh Scheuerman. Josh Scheuerman - Bears Ears
Bears Ears National Monument Mural – 800 south 350 west – Approx. 80’ x 17’. My first exterior mural in Utah also happened to be the largest so far, representing a special and controversial monument in Utah uniting decades of work by 5 different tribes in the Southwest. I created this mural in hopes of reminding the urban populace of the importance of public and sacred lands we don’t see every day, but are important in protecting. –Josh Scheuerman. Josh Scheuerman - Fisher Brewing Co
Fisher Brewing Co. Mural – 800 south 320 west – Approx. 40’ x 16’. A. Fisher Brewery Co. was one of the largest breweries in Utah between 1884-1960 before shuttering its brewery. It was then re-opened by one of the great, great, grandsons of A. Fisher and three other friends. The mural is based on three different photos from the state archives of the original bottling line, from washing, filling, capping and finally labeling the Fisher Beer brand. –Josh Scheuerman
Josh Scheuerman - Sugar House
Sugar House 1940s Historic Mural. 2015 S. 1100 E. Approx. 40’ x 17’ I grew up in Utah and have seen the growth and change over time. But I’m also only 41 years old, so I haven’t seen as much as the Greatest Generation has. This photo is from the 1940s Sugar House after the monument was erected and the Utah State Prison was still located in the top right corner, where Sugar House Park currently resides. –Josh Scheuerman
